Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how OptionScout, Inc. ("OptionScout," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses and shares information when you use OptionSellerROI.com and its related pages, tools and emails (the "Service"). If you have questions, contact us at admin@optionsellerroi.com.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Email address, when you request a login link. Your account and data are linked to this address.
• Profile details you choose to add: display name and Twitter handle.
• Your data in the Service: trades, notes, portfolios and strategies in the option tracker, and symbols you add to "My Symbols."
• Messages you send us, such as support requests.

Information collected automatically

• IP address and request details. When you log in, and when you search for options or use the screeners, we record your IP address with the time and search settings (for example the symbol and filters). We use this for security, to prevent abuse and to understand how the Service is used.
• Usage and device information collected by Google Analytics, such as pages viewed, time on page, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser, device type and referring website.
• Cookies and browser storage, described in section 4.

Information from third parties

• Patreon. If you support us on Patreon, Patreon shares your name, email address, membership status and pledge amount with us, so we can turn on supporter features and remove ads for you. We do not receive your payment card details.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

• provide the Service, including sending login links, saving your trades, portfolios and symbols, and turning on supporter features;
• send emails you have asked for, such as login links and, if enabled, daily trade status emails (every trade status email has an unsubscribe link);
• keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems;
• understand how the Service is used and improve it;
• show advertising, which helps keep the Service free (see section 5);
• respond to you, and comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not use your trades, notes or portfolios for advertising.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as follows:

• Service providers that help us run the Service, under agreements to protect it: our cloud hosting provider (Amazon Web Services), our DNS and network provider (Cloudflare), and our email delivery provider.
• Google, for analytics and advertising, as described in sections 4 and 5.
• Patreon, to match supporters to their accounts.
• Content providers built into our pages, which receive your IP address and browser information when your browser loads their content: TradingView (stock charts), YouTube (embedded videos, shown in privacy-enhanced mode), Google Fonts, and the jsDelivr and unpkg code libraries. Their own privacy policies apply.
• People you share with. If you turn on portfolio sharing, anyone with the link can see that portfolio, its trades and notes.
• Legal reasons, when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law or needed to protect the rights, property or safety of OptionScout, our users or others.
• Business transfers, as part of a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to your information.

Our market data provider receives requests for stock and option symbols from our servers. It does not receive your personal information.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Browser storage ("local storage") works in a similar way. We and our partners use them as follows:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block our own cookies, you will not be able to log in.

5. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to show ads on the Service. Supporters on Patreon do not see ads.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU and UK, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
• If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized based on your browsing.

6. Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Service, such as which pages are visited and how long visits last. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your IP address, device and browser details and pages viewed. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from collecting your data by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

7. Your choices

• Emails. Login links are sent only when you request them. You can stop trade status emails with the unsubscribe link in any of those emails.
• Profile and data. You can edit your display name and Twitter handle in "My Info," and edit or delete your trades, portfolios and symbols in the Service.
• Sharing. You can turn off portfolio sharing at any time.
• Cookies and ads. See sections 4, 5 and 6.
• Delete your account. Email admin@optionsellerroi.com from the email address on your account and we will delete your account and its data, except what we must keep for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• know what personal information we have about you and get a copy;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete your information;
• opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, or of targeted advertising;
• object to or restrict certain processing, and withdraw consent;
• not be discriminated against for using these rights.

To use these rights, email admin@optionsellerroi.com. We will verify your request by confirming it from the email address on your account, and we will respond within the time required by law. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and if you are not satisfied you can contact your state attorney general or local data protection authority.

California and other U.S. states. In the last 12 months we have collected the categories of personal information described in section 1: identifiers (such as email address and IP address), internet or network activity, approximate geolocation derived from IP address, and information you provide in your account. We use and disclose them for the purposes in sections 2 and 3. We do not sell personal information for money. Google advertising cookies on the Service may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising under some state laws. You can opt out as described in sections 5 and 7. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. We process personal information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), based on our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention and improving the Service), with your consent (analytics and advertising cookies where consent is required), and to comply with legal obligations. Where consent is required, you can withdraw it at any time through the consent choices shown on the Service.

9. How long we keep information

We keep account information and your data in the Service for as long as your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, except for information we must keep for legal, security or fraud-prevention purposes, and except for copies in backups, which are overwritten over time. We keep security and search logs that include IP addresses only as long as needed for security, abuse prevention and understanding usage of the Service.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, passwordless login links that expire after 15 minutes, and restricted access to our servers and database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. International users

We are based in the United States, and our servers are located in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored in and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the effective date above, and for material changes we will give additional notice, such as a notice on the Service or an email.
